anyone ever used a clay bar after washing but prior to waxing? Are they safe for the gelcoat?

I have used them on my car but I have never heard of anyone trying it on gelcoat. Would be interested if this works too.

I'm with you, used in on cars and it works well. But have no idea if it's same/effective on gelcoats.

It isnt going to hurt anything. Gel cote is hard to damage. I havent tried the clay bar, but I buff my boat out with a buffer and rubbing compound once a year. On the stubborn spots, I wet sand it with 1000 grit sand paper. It can take it.

ok so it won't hurt anything but any guess as to if it will be effective? it's worked wonders on the vehicles i've tried it on but those are, of course, a different surface.

I'm sure it would work. Might not be abrasive enough to get some stuff out though.
