My first post here is to find out if anybody else is having gel cote problems-that is ,any spider cracking on the chines near the bow or at the transom,on the keel,in the front seat wells...or any where else for that matter

Actually, we ARE the dealer with a customer that has been having the gelcote problems...every weekend he uses the boat it comes back to us with new cracking issues...we fix 'em...he uses it...and back it comes with different areas cracked..I currently have a call in to tech support and have sent prox 20 email pictures....I posted this to see if BRP is having widespread issues with the 200 Speedster gelcote and/or structural issues

Well I have been in contact with BRP and I have been trying to get them to recognize our site here, so hopefully someone there will see this and maybe it will spawn an investigation.

Where are you a dealer?

Well then.... You guys get no better support sometimes than John Q.
Our one post is the only instance of gelcote problems I have seen posted about. There were numerous issues with previous year models. Perhaps he can answer, or put you with his dealer for answers.. unless you are his dealer. We would love for the photos to be posted here so everyone can see them and possibly identify problems with their Speedster......

We are on the southwest coast of Florida...about 2 hours south of Tampa in Port Charlotte...www.gulfcoastmarinecenter.com...We do actually get pretty good response out of BRP because we are a Platinum dealer, The pictures are hard to tell how bad it is because of reflection but the worst spot on the boat is the starboard front chine..prox 6 foot of it is checkered with cracks and 2 fiberglass people have looked at it and said it is probably structural-meaning that a stringer has possibly delaminated.

Actually, create your own gallery and post to that- See DOO gallery at top right under the BRP logo... BTW..... thats some intense cracking- looks more structural than cosmetic in this case. Abuse? Who knows-

I know the customer pretty well and I don't suspect abuse...the boat only has about 70 hours on it and he has helped us sell 2 more of the same boat to 2 of his friends...one of which has already mentioned a gelcote problem on his boat but I haven't seen it yet

Looks awful.... Could mean a replacement. Is it on both side of the hull?

not on the chine but there are some at the port rear transom where the chine meets, some on the port side in front of the trim tab,some at the port jet pump,some in the interior,one at front corner of engine

From looking at those pics I would definitely be taking this up with BRP and demanding a new DOO! That is a lemon by looking at it!

Unfortunately, lemon laws don't pertain to boats in most cases........ at best there is a hull replacement in the works on this one. I can't believe all the damage! Worst I've seen yet, except for one other hull on a 2002 Challenger that was damaged by water from the inside of the hull.

Hopefully, I'll get a response tomorrow...I'll keep y'all posted-we're closing down the shop now...one time a few years back (when they 1st started putting in Mercs for power) we had a problem with a ride plate and they couldn't decide if it was a BRP issue or a Merc issue-to get it resolved I had to threaten to take boat and trailer across the state to BRP corporate HQ parking lot in Melbourne and jack up the trailer-take off the wheels-and put a BIG 4' x 8' plywood sign on the boat saying this is a DUD ! ...had the problem fixed in a week !
