On another board I frequent, there was an OT thread about PWC's. I want you guys to read this and pay attention not so much to the on-topic/positive responses, but the negative ones. I'm posting this to make you aware of the types of folks that are out there that threaten our sport. They are the same folks that threaten my motorcycling hobby. Just because we choose a different mode of nautical transportation we're lumped into a category defined by the actions of a small percentage of idiots. The trouble is, these detractors of PWC's and jet boats typically are the majority and we are the minority. Additionally, they generally have more clout and money. Before long, it'll be just like what has happened to off-road motorcycling in this country. Less & less public land to ride on.

These folks are probably first in line at the JetSki rental places when they go on vacation.... AND have weedeaters personally tuned by Tim Taylor himself...Unfortunately, the perception is that any one with one of these flashy sport crafts is an idiot and shouldn't be allowed on any public water. No one is aware of those of us who do boat safely ( even though I do play hard) simply because the news doesn't cover safe trips, only tragic ones. They don't cover the stories of the weedeaters and leaf blowers that pollute (I guarantee everyone of the "naysayers" on that forum OWN one or both) the air just like our PWCs and jetboats.. I can bet that a properly maintained Rotax or Mercury doesn't pollute nearly as much as that '73 Chevy with the 427 and the Holley....
As for me, they can have my jetboat when they pry it from my....wait, that's the gun slogan......
