I lost the bottom screw on the right thrust vectoring nozzle today. I found a stainless replacement that is slightly longer (1/16") than the original. I'm wondering what kept the orinigal screw from working its way out. I have some locktight I can use, but there must have been something else holding the original screw in.
Thanks,
Robert

Nope, no lock washers on this one. Loctite 242 is used to lock the threads. Same thing on just about every other fastener on the boat.
Rust holds my bottom steering nozzle bolts tight- the previous owner used standard hardware in place of stainless steel.

The replacment bolt I bought at the hardware store is supposed to be stainless. I used some loctite on the screw. If it falls out I have a spare. Hopefully I won't have another problem. I was very unhappy until I tracked the problem to a missing screw. I thought it might be something more difficult to fix.Nope, no lock washers on this one. Loctite 242 is used to lock the threads. If I ever need to repair mine, I likely will need either new inserts in the plastic nozzle, or new nozzles since the bolts are rusted tight. I keep spares of some other fasteners in my storage box: screws for the reverse buckets, nuts for the steering linkages, and nuts/bolts for the reverse cable linkages. I have had a reverse bucket pivot screw come out before, and it was no fun.
