Hello

I have a 2010 Challenger SE 255HP

It has about 23 hours on it now...still no 8000 RPMs? Someone said I should check the wear ring...I looked from both ends of the impeller...no grooves...smooth and no dings at all?

Any ideas?

BTW...it revs up to about 7400 or so...never higher?

Did you have the 10 hour service performed by your dealer? Typically these boats are limited to a certain RPM until after the break-in period, there is something in the computer that limits the RPMs until this is changed.

Well if so the boat is brand new so I would take it back to that dealer so they can have a look at what is going on. You are under warranty so everything should be covered if they spot anything. Keep us posted.

Funny I called them to discuss and they said 7400 RPMs is correct for that boat?

Boat has about 25 hours on it and I finally hit 8020 this weekend after always being in the 7900 range. It would not stay there, but would jump between 7960 and 8020. Really did not want to push it that much, so I backed off. Mentioned it to my son and he said he had also hit it that day. In all reality, it seems to like just a little over 7900 as full throttle. The rest comes when it is cooler and the water is really flat. Still need to GPS the toip speed since the speedometer is totally incorrect. Will have that fixed when it gets winterized. My '09 Speedster 150 with the 255-horse mill currently spins about 7850 with just over 14 hours on the clock. AFAIK the rev limiter kicks in at 8000.
