I am having issues with my bilge pump. The automatic switch is a Johnson Ultima switch with the electronic field. I have checked the fuse and it is fine. The pump works manually as well. Obviously, I need it to work automatically. I'm considering ordering a new sensor only and splicing it to the current bilge pump.
Is there anything that I can check before I go through the hassle (and cut wires)?
Has anyone else done this?

Sounds like to me a bad sensor, only way to check is to get a new sensor to see if this resolve the problem. Keep us posted on what you find out.

The automatic sensor was bad. I first tried to replace it with a ball bearing sensor. There literally was zero room in the bilge for it. Ended up taking it back. Got the exact replacement part from an Amazon.com vendor. Ordered the waterproof splicing and it works like a charm. It's tough as hell to get down in there to pull and replace the screws.
