Hi. I am new to this board. Havving problems with my 1997 Speedster twin rotax.
After theI purchase of the boat I had no problems. But I was on lake on my 10th time this summer and tried to help some poor guy with his old speedster and he let the rope go during towing so it sucked onto my impeller shaft.
The plastic got destored that covers the shaft my impellers have small dings from the rope. After that I took the rope off the shaft by dismentilling the rear props.
The boat ran fine afterward but had a loss of power on take off and would struggle for a few seconds at about 15 mph but then jump the plane and fly just fine.

Now its getting worse. To the point were some times and most times I cant get pust 15 mphand RPM stay at 4000.
Sometimes RPM would jump to 7000 and boat will not mopve at all.

I took the boat to a mechanic for tune up. He said my engines are fine and cleaned by Carbs.

Still Having problems. Not sure if its engine problem or because of the plastic covers the protected the shaft.

The impellers were also checked by a mechanic and I was told they were fine.

Spark plugs are new. Battery is new. Carbs are cleaned. Oil is fine.
Please help. I love this boat!

Are you certain you got all the rope out? Make sure there is none behind the impeller on the nozzle side. Look at the wear rings around the impeller for damage such as gouges out of the rubber. I seriously doubt a ski rope dinged the impeller. More than likely that damage was already there from an object harder than a rope.

Look at your driveshaft seals for damage. The carbon should be smooth with no grooves, and should contact the stainless steel ring at all times. See if you are taking on water in the bilge now. How are you accelerating to get on plane? Half, 3/4, or full throttle?
Make sure your reverse gates are in the proper position when in FORWARD and not restricting flow. If your RPM goes from 4000 to 7000 while trying to plane, your pumps are cavitating. PM me with any more questions.
