With two daughters of my own, my heart really goes out to this family. I have felt sick ever since hearing of this news. Everyone stay safe and sober out on the water.

JOHNSON COUNTY - Authorities spent Sunday evening on the scene of a fatal boating accident on Coralville Lake.
Officials say Sarah Nicole (Nikki) Perkins, 12, of Fairfield, was hit by an oncoming boat after falling off a tube being towed by another boat. The incident happened 150 yards north of Mehaffey Bridge at about 7 p.m. Sunday evening.
DNR officials say Perkins had been camping and boating with friends over the Memorial Day holiday.
Deputies closed the nearby Mehaffey Boat Ramp during the investigation. It reopened about 9:30 PM.
The names of the boat operators are not being released at this time.
Conservation officer Shawn Meier says no charges will be filed until authorities can verify that criminal acts were committed.
The Department of Natural Resources is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.

This is terrible! It is unfortunate but we typically stay off the water on holiday weekends, it bothers me how many drunks are on the water and how much this is a recipe for disaster.

We all need to be careful,it seems here in Texas the lakes around Dallas are prone to accidents like that.
