I found a 1997 18 ft seadoo with bad motors. I wanted to start a project, <i can pick up the boat for $500 and <i was woundering if anyone had any info on the rebuild. Mainly cost, aftermarket performance potential. any advice would be very appreciated. also, I just moved to florida where there is a lot of shallow water and I would like to know how much water you need to run in. while I am asking all of these questions, if you are planning to run in salt should you build a radiator setup. lots of questions, but any help would be helpfull.

Wow, if the hull is in reasonable shape I wouldn't think you could go wrong for $500. I'm sorry I can't be of more help about cost to rebuld/replace motors. Actually I'm glad I can't be of more help because the reason I know nothing about those costs is because I havn't had to do it on my boat, hehehehe. I would think it wouldn't be too bad if you can do a lot of the labor yourself. I didn't know they made a 18' twin 720cc boat. Hhhhhmmmmmm. Ya learn something every day. One other thing. I don't think it would be worth it to try to fit some sort of closed cooling system in. Just flush the engines each time you take the boat out and you should be fine. Let us know what you find out about costs for rebuild/replace.
