I have a 1997 speedster that seems to have quite a lot of water in the engine/ bilge compartment after running the boat in the water. I have filled the bilge area with a hose to see if there was a leak (water going out) which would indicate where the water was coming in from. Found no leaks. The bilge pump does come on automatically when the water gets very high. I have run the engines with the water hose connected and did see a little bit of water coming into the bilge are from where the hose connection is (back of the boat). After being on the water for 20-30 min the bilge are get full of water. Please help!

Well, running on the hose doesn't circulate water through the exhaust. I would check the hoses and fitting around the exhaust pipes.

I thought it did. That is how I found a leak at he exhaust gasket, which I fixed but I still get water in the bilge area.

Here are a couple of things to check, it requires 2 people though. Run the boat at a slow speed with the trunk open and the storage tray removed. Have your "observer" look at driveshaft where it comes out of each engine. If necessary remove the gray shrouds. If you see water spraying out then the carbon seals are leaking either because they are worn badly or they need to be pressurized with more grease. Also look for pressurized exhaust leaks as well. Diagnostics with the boat in front of you is risky and something we try not to do here but checking the carbon seals or exhaust is something you can do easily with the help of another person.

Thank you very much for your respose. I will do as you mentioned and report back. Since you seem to be an expert and while I have your attention I would like to ask you a different question. One of my engines vibrates violently when idling. The carbs have been rebuilt and adjusted, engine has been turned up (new plugs, timing etc.). otherwise the boat runs great.

HMMM, try this....grab the top of the engine and try to rock it side to side. Let me know if you discover a broken engine mount.
