Wanting to buy a 2002 Utopia 185 and it has it has a Mercruiser 210 and wondering if this is a good motor as I expected it to be EFI. It seems to run pretty good but not sure if I should pick another engine type as they come in different hp..Can't be too choosy when you buy used. Any information on this engine type would be appreciated. Thanks.
The 210 carb, 240 EFI, and 200 Optimax all use the Mercury 2.4 litre V6 block. The 210 obviously will burn more fuel, smoke more, and not hold resale value very well. The best option is the Optimax engine, we just sold a 2001 Utopia 185 for $12,900 mainly because of the engine. On the other hand we have had customers who haven't been able to sell their 210 HP carb boats because of the engine. Keep that in mind if you don't plan on keeping the boat a very long time. By the way, the 210 HP engine will run forever, its just not as desirable because of the higher fuel consumption.

I purchased it and runs great. This winter, I'd like to take the cabs apart and clean them..Is this a big deal or should I leave this to the professional? Thanks
Since there are a lot of Mercury marine mechanics out there who haven't exactly had the best year in business it would be wise to get someone else to do it unless you have had previous experience and the technical manuals.

Hello;
I'm obviously late in responding to your quote stating the following: "By the way, the 210 HP engine will run forever, its just not as desirable because of the higher fuel consumption".

How much of a big difference are we looking at as far as fuel consumption with the Mercruiser 210 Carbs versus the other motors 2002 Utopia came with, like the 200 and the 240? Thanks

I'd love to see a chart for the v6 showing the RPMs MPH and GPH. Quality compaies like Four Winns and a few others post those specs on there website. I looked over at sea-doo with no such thing found. Does anybody have some factory specs or any magazine test articles. I like to compare 30-35mph since thats my cruise zone almost never go WOT. From the crude intell I found on the older twin engine Challengers the jet boats compare right along with other 2stroke i/o prop engines other than peak WOT and the jet was faster but sucked more fuel. At cruise speeds it was plus or minus 1gph.
anybody have some specs? v6 carb or EFI with any sea-doo platform
