I am not exactly sure what they did to gain the extra horsepower yet. But I am pretty sure on the second part to your question that it won't be possible for us to get 255 out our 215 motors.
...hmm, sounds familiar?... here's what keviseeb's input...guess we need to trade the 215 for a 255 next year?
....wife would probably kick me outa the house if I do it!

Word on the street on the new 2009 255hp, It has larger IC that has more flow, SC has more boost pressure, Titanium washers!! Bigger injectors And a new ECU for the fuel delivery. Thats just what Im hearing.I am not exactly sure what they did to gain the extra horsepower yet. I think thats what it is. I have that engine in my RXTX and from what I read its a external IC, bigger SC, injectors and ECU! some people are upgrading their215's with 255 SC, using either stock seadoo IC or aftermarket, bigger injectors and custom ECU software to get more power.

The 255 HP is basically RIVA Racing equipment. For details on what to do to get more HP out of a 215 they have a website at www.rivaracing.com. I was recently at a sport boat technical committee meeting of which Riva is also a member, they told me their catalogue has been expanded to list all of the parts BRP uses on the Sea Doo engine not just for 255 HP but more if you want it.

http://www.greenhulk.net or their online store at http://www.4-tecperformance.com where the owner Jerry Gaddis will be more than happy to make you go faster...!!!
In the spring of 2008 i tested some parts on my own 215Hp and brought it close to 260HP, it took close to 2000$ of parts, and 10 hours for the installation and tuning process....basically here are the parts that i needed for it.....
-Riva Racing Stage 3 supercharger impeller fan
-External intercooler and a metal+silicone plumbing for it
-Upgrade of the 3 fuel injectors for 42 pounds units
-Upgrade of the stock propeller for a Solas 15/20 one
-Cold air intake and a K&N conical filter on it
-Groco water strainer to protect the external intercooler from debris
-Removal of the stock intercooler inside the intake manifold
-Removal of the stock exhaust resonator unit for a straight flowing pipe
Those parts brought me close to 11 pounds of boost at 8100 RPM at the engine, for a solid 52 mph GPS measured with a family of 4 in the boat and a full tank of gas.....instead of the standard 44-45 mph i used to see on the GPS.
So now the big question....? How comes the boat is now back to the stock 215HP since i was happy of the results....?
Simply because a 255+HP engine in that boat will drain your fuel tank in a matter of 1-2 hours...!!!
And since the boat is used primarly for family fun and towing watersports...the mods were basically useless and were making the boat more thirsty than ever....so i went back to stock parts few weeks after...!
