Hello Everyone,
I've been a lurker for the past few months. I recently bought my first Seadoo boat. It's a 97 14' Challenger (single 110 hp) Being that this is my first Seadoo, I've been researching the models available and I'm already wanting to upgrade. Nonetheless, I'm a novice to the whole boating concept. I've been an avid biker in the past, and grand-master tinkerer. I really can't say that I've evolved anywhere, but it's safe to say that I've not yet begun to have fun in the water. We have a couple of PWC's 99 Ultra 150, and 00 Waverunner GP 1200R. These are really fast, but we thought we'd get a little jetboat to compliment the ensemble.

BTW we're looking for a Bimini top for the 14' Challenger and would appreciate any help in this.

Hi Everyone! My name is John and I live in North-west Ohio. I previously owner a 1994 Sea Ray Jet boat, which I sold last summer. I now own a 2000 Seadoo Challenger 1800 which is Burgundy and Tan in color. The previous owner put a depth finder, compass and two battery system and switch in it. I plan on adding a bimini top and hydro-turf (after everyone on here tells me what color to get....). I can hardly wait for warm weather to get out on the water.

im mark from the uk, have a 2005 sportster, live near falmouth on the sw coast of england- enjoy skiing. i work from home for myself and use computers so if i need ten minutes away from work its usually on this site, but hey it certainly beats working - the girlfriend likes dooing it also - so we go out as soon as the weather lets us - we have a huge 7m tidal range locally which makes things interesting, its about 15mins from home to the slipway - heres our boat and truck

oh yeh

had 3 boats over 10 years - 2 other searays

a 180 bowrider and a 290 sunsport

considered myself to be fairly competent skipper - have cruised to france and channel islands etc etc got all the advanced powerboating and nav quals etc etc

got into a jet boat and was like starting over again - basic handling is completely different - it was like my first boat all over again - which as it happens has made things much more exciting.

i have massive respect for jet boat owners - they are so much harder to control at lower speeds around docks - prop boats dont know how easy they have got it!!!

My name is Robert. I live in the Austin, Texas area. I am officially hooked on my boat. We sold our 96 Speedster a couple winters ago and just recently found a 2002 X-20 that was a dealer demo, never titled so I purchased it new for a fraction (literally) of the price.

I've had it about a month now and the itch continues. I've already put a Sony CD player, poked out two additional holes for speakers (filled w/Eclispe 6 1/2" Coaxials) and purchased Hydro-Turf for it (should be here in the next couple days). Future plans are a wakeboard rack, tower speaker/light bar setup, a Bazooka tube and an amplifier that will power the 10 speaker setup I plan on running.

Good to see a Sea Doo boat forum with the proper layout. Hopefully this site will expand so the other will be eliminated from my favorites.

I joined these forums beause I wanted to get a better knowledge base before my purchase. My wife and I really like the Sportster 4-TEC SCIC. Actually, we like the Speedster and Challenger, but I want to keep the cost down so I can step into a new car since she just bought a new truck.

I've looked at several websites regarding purchase price. Most of them are MSRP so I'm wondering if most people pay that. Also, how much is the wakeboard tower? I found a part & accessories site, but didn't find a listing for it. Any information provided would be appreciated.

Welcome to the board Danny!
I'm not a big fan of the Sportster simply because of the space provided. If there are only 2 of you and you're never planning on taking anyone else along, then go for it. We outgrew our Speedster quickly. Even though it had a 4 passenger capacity, it was never comfortable with that many people, and didn't perform well with that load. If you look closely at the Sportster DI, it identical to the 97 Speedster... not alot of room. The Sportster 4 TEC is almost a foot longer, and doesn't appear to be any roomier. The stern looks longer, but has the same basic layout for seating. I don't know if I would mount a tower on either- they aren't wakeboard boats and never will be.
The Challenger, however, is the cats testicle IMO. I like the sexy new hull design.
And the Speedster, .... nice boat. Plenty of room....
Call around to a couple dealers and get their bottom dollar if you want pricing... The Challenger looks to have pretty decent pricing.
