I fired up my new-to-me Utopia 205 the other day (using proper water to cool exhausts), and the port engine fires right up and idles, but when I move the shifter out of the "neutral" position the Check Engine Light and alarms come on and the engine dies.
When I rev the engine at the throttle body it revs right up.
The neutral switch prevents the engine from starting when the throttle is out of the neutral setting.
Starboard engine works fine.
I'm thinking the neutral switch is also preventing the engine from running when the throttle is moved.
The throttle assembly was replaced (last fall?) before I bought the boat, but the boat was never run after that. The mechanic's voicemail box is full!
Any thoughts? I'm reluctant to tear into the throttle assembly before contacting the mechanic who knows how to do it. I have a 2006 manual which shows a slightly different throttle assembly than my 2007.
If anyone knows how to bypass the neutral switch that would be helpful.
