ICS issue

I was sitting in my boat yesterday for a couple of hours fidgeting with my stereo and I noticed something odd. (The DESS was not installed - but the main power was ON) I kept hearing a humming sound every 5-10 minutes. I finally figured out that it was my ICS activating. So I started watching it closely and about every 5-10 minutes, it would randomly activate and the clearing grate would open up and then close. A few times it opened up and closed 2 or 3 times before stopping.
I also laid under the boat and watched it... first thing I noticed was that the clearing grate never shut all the way. It stayed somewhat open... the open end had another 3 inches or so to go before it closed. There was nothing blocking it from shutting and there are no obstructions I can see.
Anyone ever experience this? This can't be normal. Any ideas??? I am still under warranty tso i guess that it the obvious way to go... just trying to avoid a trip to the stealership...

Seems like an interesting problem. It possibly could be a relay going bad. We had a similar issue with our boat where the bilge came on by itself and wouldn't cut-off, come to find out the relay was bad and was never telling the bilge to cut off.
Hmmm... but is it normal for that grate to remain slightly open? Or is it supposed to close all the way so it's flush?

I know the ICS had issues which is why they did away with it, take a look at this post here, http://seadoosportbo...-ICS-t1954.html. Kevin Seeber should be able to tell you what the normal position should be.
The ICS system should be closed all of the way, i.e. flush with the bottom of the boat. There is a critical step to perform once you very that the ICS is fully closed. Find the fuse to it and remove it from the boat! Thats all there is to it, you will never have ICS problems again! Also, if the kids get bored, let them push the blue button for something to do without getting in trouble. I don't mean to trivialize the ICS system but Sea Doo stopped putting it on boats because of its unreliability and maintenance issues.

My next step this automn, is welding the grate fixed, and removing everything completely of the ICS system, exception of the switch which will be used for another device...
Like they say....'ditch that @#$'...!!!

My ICS cable where it goes through the hull was loose and leaking this weekend. I can reach inside the battery area where the motor is and pull the assembly so that it moves the rest of the way to the closed position. The grate down below is a bit floppy and can be sucked in a bit past closed by the pump when it is running.
I plan to just put the grate in its exact place, unplug the motor, remove the fuse and glue the shaft/cable down by the grate into position, probably with 5200. Then when I want to open the grate for inspection I can just pull the nut and bolt off the end of the cable that holds it onto the grate and lower it down. I may even rig up some kind of quicker release pin.
No matter what the fact is its a POS and what we really need is some sort of replacement grate that is aftermarket and can be easily installed to replace the factory crap.
Too bad the current model year fixed grates dont fit our older boats.

I have a slightly different problem with the ICS... Instead of hanging below the hull, my grate goes up a little too far and let's big stuff go right into the prop. Any idea what I can do to stop this? I can pull the fuse, but suction will continue to pull it up too far.
Thanks
