I have a 1998 18' Challenger with twin 110 HP, 800 cc engines.
Starboard engine would not start, when you pushed the starter it would just click and not turn over. Mechanic told me the two cylinders were full of oil because the seals were leaking. If you take the plugs outs and turn it over it blows the oil out by about thirty feet and you put the plugs back in quick and start it up, it would usually go. When you left it for awhile it would fill up with oil again.
The big problem is that the seals are an integral part of the crankand the the whole crank had to be replace. That and a power valve cost $1900 Canadian.
The big problem is after using the boat twice the port engine is now doing the same thing.
Does all of this sound reasonable and should I proceed w/ the port engine?
Advice or suggestions appreciated.
And no, a match to the tank is not an alternative.

Unfortunately, that cost sounds about right for someone else doing the repair. If you have any mechanical experience and a few tools (even if it's limited), I would suggest that you look @ replacing the crank yourself.
SBT has a "decent" exchange program, where they take your old crank and provide a replacement that is trued and has new seals.
There are many videos online that go though this process.
I've attached a link to one of those videos.
