Just wondering where the oil filter is on a 2006 speedster. Doing the winterizing myself and wondering if the oil filter is hard to change. Thanks a bunch.

If has the 4 tech motor, the filter is in the round canister towards the back of the engine. Use a E10 torx socket to remove the cover, pull it off and the filter is inside. There are a total of 3 O- rings on the cover. 1 on the bolt, 2 on the cover. Inspect them also. Makes sure you only tighten the bolt back to 80 inch lbs .

I changed my oil yesterday (2005 Speedster). The oil filter cover-cap required some prying to remove (used a flat blade screw driver). Other than having a hard time getting around in the engine compartment (not easy) it went well. The only place I could find the E10 torx socket was at Sears (after trying Pep-Boys, Home Depot and a local Ace). I was also only able to pull out a little under 3 quarts from each engine using my oil pump. I am not thrilled with leaving the rest of the old oil in there, but I don't see an alternative.Just wondering where the oil filter is on a 2006 speedster. The E10 socket I found at NAPA. They sold me just the 1 socket.
When you stick in the suction tube, only insert it 17", per jetski manual. Suck as much oil as you can, then remove the tube, hold the throttle wide open and crank the engine about 10 seconds. It won't start as long as the throttle is wide open. Then reinsert the tube and suck some more oil. If you do this routine 3 or 4 times, you will get about another quart out.
