I imagine your '95 XP probably had the bearing carrier seal, like the '95 boats. It had seals and a bearing instead of the carbon/ss setup. If you want to put a little more pressure on the ss ring, loosen the rear clamp on the bellows hose, and slide it forward a little. You might want to visually check the sealing surfaces first, and make sure the carbon is flat and not pitted or 'wallowed' out. the ss ring should look flat too. If they are OK, then slide the bellows just a little forward, and tighten the clamp back up. Take it out and test it, man! You can leave the gray plastic guards off long enough to see whats going on.
Get a flashlight and shine it in the pumps, from the rear and from underneath. You may be able to see the wear ring well enough to see it is has any 'chunks' or well worn areas. It will look scuffed, thats normal. Make sure there are no ski rope 'remnants' or fishing line or anything behind or before the impellers. Post back and let us know how yer carbon rings look. Happy DOO'ing!

You are right about the 95 XP. It may be more maintenance but I know how they work.
I just looked at the impellars and wear rings and they look brand new. It must be the carbon rings. I will attempt to "adjust" them tomorrow. thanks again.

Trying to slide that hose forward is a lot easier said than done. I did get it though. It helped some, but it still cavitates. Is the boat supposed to be able to get on plane with just one engine. Mine won't. I cavitates too much. Is there anything else that could make it cavitate other than the carbon ring and wear rings? I can't figure it out. Thanks a lot.No problem, man! Remember, if you can't get the carbon rings to seal to your satisfaction, you CAN retrofit to the '95 setup. Good luck!

Some guys say their twins can plane on one engine, but that's after they did the carrier retro. We'll see!
