Just add oil to the gas?

When I picked up the boat from having it winterized, the mechanic "mentioned" that the engine was a little noisy. When I told them they had just replaced that engine, and if there is a problem, it needs to be fixed while it is still under warranty. He said that all I needed to do is put some oil in the fuel.
I did this, and now the port engine is getting fouled pretty easy.
It almost sounds to me like the starboard engine has a problem getting the right amount of oil.
Can anyone shed some light on the subject?
Thanks in advance for any help.

The break-in procedure for my 95 Sportster stated that oil should be added in the first tank. Of course, this after this, spark plugs should be changed. This is to be done only on the first tank for break in. I figure a rebuilt engine should need the same procedure...I had to have starboard engine in my 1999 Challenger 1800 with twin 727's rebuilt last year. The engine was a Bombardier replacement with a one year warranty. I put about 20-30 hours on it over the summer towing kids on tubes. I am not reckless, or drive the boat WOT.

When I picked up the boat from having the engine rebuilt, They never talked about breakin from an oil perspective, they only told me to give it 10-12 hours before WOT and such. I never reved it over 5K for the first 15 hours, and I am the ONLY one who drives it.
It almost seems like the real problem is the one engine does not get enough oil normally.
Is the oil injection a problem on 787's?
