Has anyone added an isolator and 2nd battery to an 1800? If so, can you just attached the hot side to the switched side of the on/off switch? thanks

My suggestion would be to remove the existing battery switch and replace it with one of these (or something similar):Has anyone added an isolator and 2nd battery to an 1800? If so, can you just attached the hot side to the switched side of the on/off switch? thanks

Then just wire both batteries to the switch and your done. Probably cheaper too.
You can do what you're asking, but wiring the isolator to the altenator could be tricky. Never used one, just what I've heard.

On my Challenger-I put a different battery switch on it-one that is made for a two battery system. If I can figure out how to attach pictures to this I will add some.

Does your Challenger have the twin Rotax's? If so, what type of switch did you use and how do you operate it to keep both batteries charged? Nope to the Rotax-My Challenger has a Mercury 210 in it. Each time I hit the water I flip the battery switch to a different battery. They seem to keep charged this way. One of the settings on the switch says "both", but I've never used it.
