Towing Capacity (lbs., 2WD / 4WD) 3500 / 4500*

*Towing requires installation of power steering fluid- and automatic tranmission fluid-cooler, both available exclusively from your Honda dealer.Premuim unleaded fuel is recommended when towing above 3500 lbs. Capacity of 4500 lbs. is for boat trailers and 3500 lbs. for all other trailers. Refer to the owner's manual for additional towing information.

Just 500 more lbs and you will be all grown up Son!!

Not trying to knock anyone here...... I just thought the comment about any SUV tows 3500 lbs was funny.

There was a guy at my work talking about his new SUV/ Cross over vehicle. I asked him what he had and his said a Ford Freestyle....... I almost choked on my sandwich. HELLLLLLOOOO, it is a station wagon with bigger tires. Nothing more.

Anyway, I like the Honda vehicles so nothing against them from me......

Hey, no problem here, I got a Pilot mainly because my wife works at the dealer, wholesale price, and before the Ridgeline was available.

One think I don't undertsand, how come it's got 3,500 towing capacity for non boat trailers, and 4,500 for boat trailers?

One think I don't undertsand, how come it's got 3,500 towing capacity for non boat trailers, and 4,500 for boat trailers?

We traded an Odessy for for the Pilot in '04. It has been great so far. I don't need a 9 MPG giant to get the boat to the water! One of the reasons we went with the Pilot was folks on another board talking about tow vehicles and how well the Pilot worked for them (sea-doo boat towing). I really liked the Odessy but it sucked at the ramp with my little Sportster so with the Speedster last year, we needed a change, we liked the idea that the Pilot had the same engine. We just got back from Vermont for a week of Skiing and the Pilot was a pleasure to drive (great in the snow). I did get the tow package including the transmission and oil coolers. The Pilot ends up being my wifes car and she did not want a "truck", the Pilot is a nice comprimise for us.

I sold an Acura RSX type S, and bought a 2001 Ford Explorer with the V6 and towing package to tow a 2006 Speedster I am getting ready to purchase. My friend uses his 2000 explorer with the V6 to tow a 21' glastron with wakeboard tower and does not have any problem. I would rather have something with a V8 but could not afford anything else at the time. Got a great deal on the explorer from a friend. My question is, is anyone here towing with an explorer or have any experiences towing with one. I think I will add some helper springs to it, but may not need them. Going to have to wait for the boat and see if it makes the truck squat any. Thanks for any info.

I have a 2002 Ford Sportrac...(a confused exploerer), 2wd, 6 cyl. I'm towing a Utopia 205 with a tower............ If i'm not in my slip in Dallas, I'm towing the heffer to Houston............about 1200 miles every two months. On top of that, with work, 1500 a week.....not a problem at all with the Ford.

My wife's little Jeep Liberty doesn't have a problem pulling our speedster SK. Just have to take it easy in the hills and all is well. I would think an Explorer would do quite nicely, has a little bit longer wheelbase to make it better. If you want to pull that thing though, not much beats an F-250 with a V-10. I'll pass anything but a gas station. 9mpg.

The explorer is doing a nice job so far. I don't go far to the lake, probably about 15 -10 miles max to the lakes around me. Don't believe I would take it through the mountains or anything buy it does a nice job around here. I am pulling a 2006 speedster. My father in law across the street has a 2000 F350 dually that he uses for his fifth wheel. I use it sometimes but diesel is also expensive. It has the 7.3l diesel. I am happy with the explorer overall though. My wife has a CRV that we use to pull the waverunners also. Happy boating all.

I use my 2001 325xi to tow my Sportster 4-Tec to the ramp... It works great, but again the ramp is only 1/4 mile away.
