I recommend HIGHLY against getting a utopia (or any jet boat) for use in cold water areas and rough water (other than lake use).Hey there..
So I'm fairly new to jet boats, so please pardon my silly question if that's in fact what this is.
I'm considering getting a Utopia for use in a salt water harbor/light ocean use (Boston Harbor.) I'm curious if this is a good idea, or if I'm asking for a lot of corrosion/maintaince problems/other issues? I'd be keeping it 5-6mo a year in the water full time (under a cover when stored), then trailer/store it for the winter.
I'd much rather get a sea doo than just about anything else, but am curious what other people's experiences & the general wisdom about keeping one of these in salt water is. Am I asking for problems?
With the bow being lower than a standard inboard/outboard while planing, how will I do in light/medium chop?
Also, another simple question; w/ a full tank, what's the typical range one can expect from a 205/205 SE?
Thanks a ton....
..D
I grew up in Newton, Mass. and have since moved to Florida. I live on a lake here and occasionally take the boat out on light chop and inland waters. It is a pretty rough ride for anything other than that.
