I have a 1997 Speedster with twin 85's. I bought it recently and it runs awesome, except for a hesitation around 2500 rpm. You have to feather it through this rpm, if you just hammer it the engine (usually only one) sometimes stalls.
Any ideas what may be causing this?
thanks
Chris

PS.
The dealer had told me about this, but he said they were unable to diagnois. They thought it may be a accelerator sensor (or valve?). They claimed that most do this and not to worry about it.
Any comments on what may be causing would be helpful.

1. Check fuel filters first. Replace as needed.
2. Accelerator pumps in carbs. 1997 model, may be time for a rebuild of the carbs.
Kits are cheap, and there is a Mikuni manual here in our download section .
Their claim of "most do this" is unfounded. Mine didn't. It didn't doo that when it was new, so it shouldn't do it now and be classified as normal.

Thanks for your help I will check the filters.
It seems to be much better when warm, but with that said only 1 motor stalled once yesterday and the boat ran awesome all day.
PS
thanks to those who contributed to the scupper valve thread, changed to the newer ping pong ball version and not a drop af water in the boat. I had to plug the drain it was so bad before this change.
