i'm thinking about buying a used 2000-2005 sea-doo islandia.. i would like to know from other islandia owners if this is a good family boat and what things should i look out for before i buy.. like did a certain year islandia have problems, did a certain year islandia have a better motor then others, what should i expect to pay for good clean used islandia
i live in massachusetts and there are hardly any used islandia for sale in the area.... so if anybody has a nice clean islandia for sale let me know

We bought a 2006 Islandia last year (only 15 hours on the motors) :-) It is a great family boat - I was originally looking for a Challenger 180 or a more typical open bow, but the Islandia offers more seating (up to 12 - more like 10 comfortably) , the sink, porta-potty/changing room, bigger sun lounge, cooler storage, shower, etc. I would say to look for a 2006 or newer because the 2005 and older had the single engine mercruiser (from what I have observed). It is extremely functional - it is great for just anchoring and relaxing with all the amnenities it has. look for an SE which has the tow pylon, stereo remote and carpeting. There are dealers that have them - look on ebay - I got lucky and found mine just 2 hour drive away. Almost bought one from dealer in Fla (Marine Connection) and was going to have it shipped - sometimes they have one but I don't see any on their site right now. BTW - mine was really clean and only 15 hours and I paid 25K with trailer - I bought mine from smith marine in PA. Let me know if you have pursued your purchase.

I bought a 2001 Islandia with the 240 EFI this year. I started looking for a Challenger when I found my boat. I use the boat for water sports or just hanging out with my friends. I would highly recommend the boat. Whatever you decide to buy, look for the service records and check the hours on the boat.
The boats that have the 240 EFI the maintenance is really easy. I've done everything myself, with the excepiton of changing out the gear lube for the jet pump.
