I'm adding 2 more 6 1/2" speakers and not sure what to use to screw the screws into! The factory used little square things behind the holes?

Also does anyone know a good spot to add the new 6 1/2's? I will be adding a sub later on. Would the bow be a good spot? I have a 99 challenger 1800!

There are several threads for speaker installs. Search Results

Little square things? Can you post a small pic of it?  I would say take it into your local hardware store and explain to them it is a marine fastener for your existing speakers.  They should be able to recommend a stainless steel equivalent.  Failing that, you could call Overtons or West Marine and they may be able to help you. Overtons has several Kits, and I am sure West Marine does also.

I have searched everywhere and could not find the answer. They are glued behind the fiberglass and the speaker screws screw into them. Also there is no post showing good placement in the bow area.

Those little clip thingys arent really necessary. Use stainless steel self tapping screws. Just predrill the holes and drill em en. Use a 5" hole saw with a corded drill to make the holes. Very easy job.

I have a 2000 challenger 1800. I put 2 more 6 1/2s up in the bow (see pic) also put a sub on the port side under the counsel

Steve, that's exactly what I'll be doing (6 1/2's where you've put them and sub also where you put yours).  Hope you don't mind a copy cat!

Where's the pics of the sub?? And what would you recomend for the amp to run 4-6 1/2's and 2 10's??

actually i want to make the rear six and a half speakers into 8's. and move those speakers to the bow. im thinking on getting all kicker components and amp. for some reason I cant find pics of any installs???????

I have all kicker speakers and love them. They sound awesome. As far as amps, i cant say enough good things about the Alpine PDX marine amps. I have the PDX5M. It easily runs 4 speakers plus 2 subs. it is 2 ohm stable on all channels. It is digital class so it runs much more efficient and cooler. Also very compact and can fit just about anywhere.

I actually am looking at getting the same kickers as in your boat. I can only find 10's though for the subs. Will that amp push the 4 6 1/2's and 2 10's? I really don't want to get 2 amps?

It easily handles the 4 6.5's and 2 subs. Im thinking of adding 2 more sets of 6.5's. The 10's are plenty. I get tons of compliments all the time. There are tons of guys with bug fancy wake boats with huge systems and it blows them away.

To all you thump heads...do you add another battery, upgrade to a optima battery, or just make do with a normal marine battery?  I also want to add a sub and two more 6.5's but don't want to drain my battery (currently just of the normal marine variety).

I just ordered all the stuff for an extra battery. I. E. Battery tray, cables, switch to control up to two batteries.

If you are going to add an amp, i would get a 2nd battery. It is really easy to add. I opted for the combo 1,2 both switch and added a deep cel. That is what i use when i am sitting and listening to the music. works great for 3 seasons so far.

I added a 2nd battery, I've heard optima batteries are a waste of money, so I went to autozone and got the largest deep cycle they had for under$ 100. Has worked great so far this season.

if you're adding a 2nd battery do you really need to go with a huge deep cell?  I was thinking that would be necessary if you're just going to stay with one battery.

I'm going with a standard battery and I think a few guys out there just went with a standard one.
