I have a challenger 180 (2007) with brand new battery for dealer. I bought boat to cruise around but plan on chilling on water with radio on often, but worried about draining battery. Thoughts on adding 2nd battery?
Hook up 2nd in parallel and charge/use both at same time (very easy install). In this case hook up trickle charger to one or both batteries?
Hook up 2nd with additionsl 1-2-1/2-off switch? In this case I know trickle charge them separate.
Ps...I have a double trickle charger already and like option 1 because easy.
Thanks
Dual Battery Hookups?

A dual battery setup wouldn't be a bad idea. Take a look at this, it should get you started in the right direction - http://continuouswav...ualBattery.html

The more I read about this, the I am thinking about buying a boombox radio to bring on boat...haha!
Anyone have any pics of Challenger with dual batteries? How did others wire up second battery? Would it just be easier to invest in a battery with the Largest Reserve Capacity do less chance of radio draining?
So I should NOT just add another battery in parallel without adding other switches, etc? Anyone try this? Battery Shop said that Is not an issue...just doubles capacity.

I would say yes you can do it without the switch, you will just have to decide which setup works best for you. Most setups I have heard about though offer the switch. I haven't seen any install pics for a Challenger like ours yet.
