I just picked up a new (zero hours) 2007 Islandia, and I'm wondering if the ski pole just sits in it's hole in the back or if it is supposed to be screwed in? The bottom of the pole has threads but there doesn't seem to be anything in the receiving hole to thread into it. Anyone care to set me straight?

It should be secured some way or another otherwise how would it support a skier? Our 160 Speedster was securely fasten so I would say if it is just sitting there then something is definitely missing.

There is a place for the pole to sit into on the back of the boat, but i'm just not sure that i'm not missing something since the bottom of the pole is threaded.

It is possible hole in the back of the boat is actually for a table not the ski pole if it is not threaded. There should be another location for the ski pole, ours went right in front of the engine bay on our 160 Speedster.

Check page 66 of the attachment it should help identify the placement of the ski pole.

Figured it out thanks to the PDF and the parts diagrams!! First, the 2007 manual I have sucks, it contained all the boats and just generalized, so thanks very much for posting the 2008 for just the islandia. There is a plug for the rear ski pole holder that has a rubber stopper that screws into a aluminum head that ultimately sits flush with the hole preventing water from getting in and toes from being snapped, it also screws apart and falls down into the hole for new boat owners to ponder over. I ended up fishing it out with a metal coat hanger and a magnetic nut/bolt retriever; amazingly underneath all of the dismantled mess is a large bolt that fits the threads on the bottom of my ski pole! Now all I have to do is get my bimini cover back from getting fixed and she should be good as new! Thanks for all the help:D

Interesting, I just looked at this on my 08. There are large threads on the bottom of the ski pole but when I look down the hole in the boat there is only a small bolt sticking up that holds the bracket from inside the boat. I do not see a way to secure it on mine, but it sits down in the hole quite a ways.

Ok so I investigated this more. I had the exact same issue, the plug had been screwed apart and fell down the hole covering the bolt. After some tricky fishing I was able to get the pieces out and the large bolt was there to screw into the pole. Everything is good now.

Do you just unscrew the pole ? I put a large pipe wrench on mine and can not get it unscrewed. Just apply more force ?

I have a 2007 islandia, just got it last week and am having a couple of issues:
1) I cannot find the potable water tank to fill w/ fresh water?
2) The cabinets don't stay closed; does anyone have a recommendation, we are on the bay and it gets rough out there.
3) Starboard seat tends to dislodge and suggestions?
