Having read so much about Phase seperation, Ethanol, and Water, I am now paranoid about my gas. I want to install a water separating fuel filter for my Speedster 150 SCIC engine. I know I cannot use clear plastic bowl type filters in the engine compartment (USCG regs) but the filters I find say to install on low pressure (or vacuume) side of the fuel pump, or they say nothing at all. Has anyone installed such a filter and what brand was used? Since the fuel pump is in the gas tank, my only choice is to put the filter on the high pressure side of the pump.

To be honest we have used ethanol gas in our last two boats, the first being a 160 Speedster and now our current 180 Challenger. We haven't seen any side effects from running gas containing ethanol, heck we can't even find gas around us that doesn't contain ethanol now. I am sure there will be others that have seen different results so I would like to her their opinions too.
This would be the first I have heard of anyone installing a water separating fuel filter on a SeaDoo so unfortunately I don't have any information that I could point you in the right direction. If you are able to find a viable solution, please keep us posted because I would to know your results after the modification.

I've found a product called a FlowMax 300M that will handle high pressure fuel. I'm debating whether to purchase the marine version for $140 or the nonmarine version that appears to be identical for $70. The website is: http://www.ramcoperf.../flomax300M.htm

The marine version looks like it will hold more so I would probably stick with this one since it designed especially for marine engines. Keep us posted if you purchase this -- I would be interested in seeing a how-to of your installation for others to potentially install this too.

I've purchased the non marine version because the marine version is huge, like made for a tugboat size engine. I got all the parts I need, but fun on the water has temporarily replaced paranoia. Maybe a winter project...
