Anybody know what the forward latching mechanism is for on the challenger 1800? Yesterday i was trying to dock and when I went to shift into reverse the gear selector lever was jammed in the forward direction. Stupid me I forced it and ended up bending the steel cable that connects to the reverse bucket.Turns out the the forward latch was engaged and since it was engaged the only way to dis engage it was to get under the backside of the boat and manually do it. What in the world is the purpose of this latch? Seems kind of point less. Am I missing something here?

The exact same thing happened to me. I forced it, and bent the rod on the end of the cable. Since then, I removed the latch. I haven't had any problems since.Anybody know what the forward latching mechanism is for on the challenger 1800?
