hey all newbie to the site, hard to find stuff on the web for us sportster le di's. My question for you guys is this. what kind of upgrades can you do to these motors? I am pleased with the speed and all just I am always looking to improve things. I can't find anything online, I am thinking about going to my dealership and talking to them. Anyway hope you guys can help. thanks. oh ya i have the 2003 model.

Hey there and welcome. If you have the 2003 Sportster LE then you have the last model made BEFORE the DI engine was installed. I agree with thumper, check with riva or Perry Performance Group to see what can be done with the carbs. If you do have the DI engine then there isn't a whole lot out there for it yet, its usually just a matter of time!

we have a company here in the uk that specialises in racing seadoo sportsboats and they have advised me not to do anything with mine - as at the moment they are testing kit and dont expect to see any massive improvements that are cost effective - sure if you have the money then yes anything is possible - but then we have diffrent boats!

one thing they did say was this

the power to weight ration for formula 1 boats is 1hp/4.5kg or lower (lower the better)
the power to weight ratio for a sportster 2005 scic is 1hp/3.5kg!!!!!!!!!

so on paper its better than you average formula 1 boat
kinda puts a smile on your face knowing that!

I got the 04 LE DI, and I think upgrades would be sweet!! Let me know if you find anything... BTW did you try NOS?? (he he - jk) Actually, I have a question for all the LEDI-er's out there.. How the hell do you work on the engine??? is it either a) bending over the back seats and having a sore stomach the next day? or setting a life-jacket on the exaust pipe and trying to balance sitting on the engine. Is there some secret to working on the engine or c) levetating over the engine via supernatural power.... UHG I hate having to go back there....

The lifejacket method was a must for the twin Speedster..... or stand on your head between the engines..... same for the singles. It isn't easy for sure. I also used one of the 3-step ladders and a good fender cover to stand beside the boat when doing alot of work. Made things a little easier...

I just bought a new 05 Sportster Di, naturally I already started hunting for performance mods. Which isnt a bad thing, except that I not only haven't had it on the lake yet, I haven't even had time to pick it up from the dealer!

The only stuff Ive found yet for a 951 is from a performance company in Wisconsin called Rossier http://www.rossiereng.com/
Being originally from the Minnesota, I reconize the name (these guys are pretty popular with snowmobile racers). Not cheap but they claim they can pull 185 hp out of a 951!

Wonder what a DI "sub-move" would look like with a 185hp? probably get to see the lake bottom for a couple seconds anyway!

Anyway if anyone does any mods with them or finds anywhere else, Post it!
