I thougfht it was time that i checked my sacrificial annode (tough to spell never mind find!) I have hung upside down in my engine compartment until the headaches started and I did not find it....Anyone got any clues?

I dont know your model but it will be on the outside . It has to be in water to work.

According to the manual it is in the engine bay, but I can't see it...

check out the nozel and ride plate arrangemnet - you will see some alloy bits fixed to various parts externally - its worth keeping an eye on them if you boat in salt water.

They are fitted at the pump, near the ride plate (or above it,) on the ourtside!
