I my experience, electrical problems are common, happen once, and once fixed, they do not happen again. Seems wierd, but that is my experience.Has anyone seen/heard about a problem with the 2004 speedster 200 electrical system. In June 2004, with 11 hours on the boat, my speedster 200 completely shut down. After a few weeks the dealer in Pensacola Fl. eventually found that there was a short in the wiring harness and ordered a replacement. At some point during the installation of the new harness the dealer then discovered it was the wrong harness and had to order a newer one... After just over two months I finally got the boat back . I water tested it and it ran poorly and summer was over. In May of 2005 I took the dealer that I bought it from in Atlanta GA to have them check it out before the warranty expired. They got it running smoothly again however, after only a 5-10 hours of use, the port engine died. After putting back to the marina and trailering the boat home. I notices that even when the radio face was not attached to the radio I hear static coming from the speakers...what the F.... ????. I can't trust this boat.. It's on it's way to the shop.. Lets see if it takes another 2 months to fix this... So has anyone else had any electrical problems?
I had a 1995 Sportster and the main fuse box shorted after one year of use. Got it replaced under warranty, and never had the problem again.
On my 2003 Utopia, after about 7 months of use, all the stock swithces stopped working (for explame, bildge pump, lights, blower, etc.). The bildge pump worked on automatic, but did not respond to the manual switch. The gauges and my additions were working fine (freshwater shower system, trim tab). I was able to determine that the cause was again the main fuse box, snce all the switches go to one set of fuses, and the gauges go to another (within the same box). Apparently, half of the box was not getting power. The dealer could not find the problem and said I would need to leave the boat for about two weeks until the get an electritian in. Seems they are not familiar with the electrical wiring of the boats they sell!
So, went to West Marine, bought a 6 circuit fuse box, and rewired everything myself. 2 Hours of work, $130 later, and everything is working great.
So, get to know your boat and how to fix your problems yourself, since in my experience, the dealers really do not know what to do!!!

Not sure I have the same problem, but we took the boat out yesterday and the left engine would not start? The right one fired everytime. I tried to switch the battery on and off, from #1 to #2 and tired it with the switch set to " both". Going back to the dealer in the am to see what they can do. The leak is back, I a few other things wrong with it. The right engine will not rev past 7200, when the right one runs it hits 7500. The tacs, when both engines run, jump all over the place then settle down. Not off to a good start. Hate to say, may need to cut my losses, and get a different boat. I have bought 5 units from this dealer, never had a problem, hopefully we can work something out, Bill.Has anyone seen/heard about a problem with the 2004 speedster 200 electrical system. Please post some pics as you do the work. It sounds like a great idea and I may try and make the same mods.II have worked on jet skis for over 7 years and I have never seen anything this bad... The solenoid is just bolted to the bottom of hull with the fuses just sitting on the bottom as well... What ever happened to a sealed electrical box with all these components in it... As soon as you get some water in the boat the solenoid and fuses get f'in soaked.... Dont get me wrong I love the way the boat runs and looks but it does need some work if you plan to keep it for a while. I am going to install 2 sealed electrical boxes (one for each motor) from a older model sea-doo and get those components off the hull and into a sealed box where they belong...

I agree that a solinoid should be sealed and it's not, but it is very high in the hull (on my boat ('05 S200 with the 155's)). Are you getting water that high in the hull? I have never had more than an inch in my hull after boating even after leaving the boat docked for over a week and everything above the sump stays dry unless I wash it.II have worked on jet skis for over 7 years and I have never seen anything this bad... I find that the computer brain on my S200 is a bit flakey, but it has never left me stranded. Sometimes I get the two beeps and no start, all I do is re-seat the DSS and it works the second time. My tachs sometimes freeze for a minute or two when under way as well. They just lock at a fixed RPM and then start working after a while (one-two minutes). It seems they designers of the 4-tec computer could have spent a bit more time on the job. My Sporster 4-tec did the same thing (fail to start, re-seat and all is well).Well picked up the boat from the dealership, they did a lake test Saturday, no issues. Took it to the lake on Sunday, got out past the no wake zone, shut the engines off to let the gps set up. After about a minute or two tried to fire the boat up, two beeps then nothing, waited tired it again nothing, both engines dead! Right before I was going to "swim it into shore" I tried it again, both fired. Now the good news, Took the boat out, with full tank, hit 59.1 on the gps, several runs over 58 mph. The left engine turned about 7500 and the right is now at 7300, appear the right engine is now starting to open up. Even got the speedo with in a few mphs of the gps. WIth a few more rpms, should be able to hit 60. Took it back to the dock and loaded it up. Called the dealar today, they will pick up the boat and go through it again, dealer says they will make it right, hope we are not chasing a ghost, BIll.
