Hello to all. So far this has been a pretty good season. I changed the plugs and gas filters in the beginning of the season (I don't think the filters had every been changed since 99) boat has been running great.
Now for the new problem. The starboard throttle control has free play from the stop position to top center (you can feel that there is no resistance) after top center you can feel the cable start to pull and the engine starts to rev up. It also appears the choke control has about 50% or more play as well before you feel resistance. Has anyone else had this experience or have an idea where I should start to look to solve this problem? It was getting dark when I got home last night. I want to try and fix it after work today any feed back would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Found the problem. I of course started at the wrong end. I pulled out the shifter thinking that that was where the play was. But no it was on the engine side of the cable. There is a mounting bracket onder the carbs. for both the choke and throttle cables. That bracket had loosened up and was flopping front to back everytime you pulled the cables. Had to take the air cleaner off to get down to the bracket. Just have to fine tune the throttle cable to match up to the port side.
Hope this may help someone else in the future.
