Maybe we can get some stories posted about funny, crazy, or just plain dumb things that have happened with your boat.


So far I don't have anything too exciting, other than a Beach towel getting sucked up. DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT THAT.

My favourite one is when I took my boat out for its first ride. I launched it in the little Town nearby where I bought it and 90% of the boats were fishing boats. A couple of guys came to look at the boat and were wispering a bit. One of the guys then asked me if I put the stickers on there that said "V6"? Obviously I gave my best Sinister laugh and said NOPE!! She's got a brand spankin new "V6" 240hp in it!!! The guys jaw almost dropped when I opened the engine bay. GOTTA LOVE THAT FEELING!!!

What I didn't know is that were I launched it, they had a strict harbour speed....OOPS!!! By the time I was 10 feet from the harbour I had it full throttle!!!!!!

A Weekend on Lake Oconee

Well I took my Speedster out this weekend on Lake Oconee and what a blast it was. I had been debating if I wanted to try the sub-doo move and I finally did it. I wasn't going to do it because my girlfriend was on the boat and she said "do not do it with me on here". Then one of my buddies in the back was like quit being a ***** and just do it so I was like alright here we go. First attempt got up to about 20 mph then threw it in reverse, gave it some gas and nothing really. Went back for round 2, this time took it to 30 mph then threw it in reverse, gave it some gas and sub-doo!!! Everyone was soaked, we had towels in the boat....all soaked, they were taking the towels slinging them around splashing the water that was in the boat. Took about 5 minutes of running around the lake to let the bilge pump the water out. What a blast! My girlfriend loved it after she saw how smooth it was! Well that was the funest part of my weekend on the lake, now for the bad part of my weekend.

I was out riding my buddies Yamaha Waveblaster and my buddy was down in the water so I was buzzing by him splashing him so that he couldn't get back onto his ski. Then about 10 minutes later on our ways back to the dock, DNR pulls up with the blue lights. Calls my buddy and I over to the boat and called one more guy that was with us over to the boat (he had his girl on the back of his so he wasn't really riding like we were). DNR issued us all tickets, told my buddy and I that we were in violation of the 100 ft law from one another. Then he told the other guy that he was in violation of the 100 ft law by going to fast by the dock. Now my buddies and mine were legit becasue we were really in violation but the other guys was horse crap because DNR had to have been watching us with binoculars because we didn't see them anywhere in sight while we were riding. So my question is how in the hell could they judge how far a 100 ft from the dock was when they weren't even in sight? Called this morning to check on how much the ticket is, 90 freakin' dollars.....man was I pissed! I mean I know I was in the wrong but 90 dollars, good lord I think that is a bit outrageous. DNR on Lake Oconee has nothing better to do than mess with people, I have been pulled over everyday that I have gone out there on my Speedster for safety checks or something of another. This was my first encounter of actually getting a ticket and I wasn't even on my own watercraft.

Labor Day

How was everyones Labor Day weekend on the water? I would have to say mine went pretty good except for the first day. I put the boat in on Saturday afternoon about 20 minutes after being in the water I was running about half way open and then the boat just pretty much stopped. The boat would throttle up but would go nowhere hardly, I also didn't really have a reverse. First instinct was that I sucked something up the grate so I cut the engine and swam underneath to see if I could see or feel anything and I got nothing. So I decided to limp back to the boat ramp and put the boat back up on the trailer to take a closer look. Once I got the boat back on the trailer and out of the water a buddy of mine crawled up underneath the boat for a better look and then he crawls back out and says look what I found. I had sucked up some little kids tommy hillfiger hat! I mean what are the chances of the happening on the water and the hat actually making it through the grate. Once we got that out I put the boat back in the water and it ran fine for the remainder of Labor Day weekend.

Those are pretty funny Kevin... I remember that day very well.. To add on to your story, while you were getting your boat fixed at the dock. This just definelty topped off the summer.

There were three of us riding jet skies, while you were getting your boat fixed. One of our friends has a stand up ski, and its a little old and has had many.many repairs done. We were excited to have it fixed and running well. Until.. he was in the water messing with a pump of some sort , and all of a sudden i looked over at him.. and his stand up ski was sinking and he looked like he was going down with it..

I quickly rode over to him, jumped in the water and helped him keep the ski a float. Luckily, his sister was nearby and we (two young girls and a young guy) managed to tow the ski that is filled with water and the cover of the ski in an inner tube.. and smoke was everywhere towed it to the side of the lake. I was just devasted!! but I look back and think about how much fun we had..

Well...here is my sucking something up in the grate story.


My buddy lives right on the lake near the Marina where I launch. I took a quick scoot by and there were quite a few people out the back so I pulled up to see what was going on. He had a few relatives over and his incredibly good looking Sister!! <---has trouble written all over it.....no... not what you are thinking either!
Anyway, I took MANY people for rides, and rides, and rides...Then my buddies Sister asked if she could drive..... Ok, a quickie won't hurt.

All went well until we got back to shore where she decided it was ok to get out of the boat while I was backing up. I also didn't know that she had thrown her Beach towel in the water...... Not until she said that it went under the boat. I immediately shut the boat off and her brother (my bud) just glared at her as if she had better run quickly!!! I guess he knew that it would be 2 hours later I would get going again after he graciously swam several times under my boat to pull pieces out of the intake while I turned the engine in reverse by hand.!!!

Was not a fun Day......thank god she was hot....it made it easier! weird how that works!

I'm still thinkin' about your buddies sister.......

The second time I had the boat out, we were trying the sub-doo thing and managed to accomplish it the 5th time we tried. Soaked everyone like it is supposed to. It managed to make a bolt come out of one of the reverse gates though. The boat would spin around in circles really well, but would not travel forward!!! Caught hell for breaking the boat.......
The 3rd or 4th time my wife managed to get up on the kneeboard, she was doing some wake-jumping- on one landing, she leaned the wrong way and planted her face in the water. I thought it was hilarious.... she didn't.
Then, this one time at band camp.......

Oh yeah.... there is an area on the lake where we all can beach our boats on a sand bar. I had always heard that fishing line can get up in the impeller and get wrapped up behind it and damage seals. I happened to be feeling around the intake grates and found some line! I'm thinking "great".... so I get it out of the intake, and start following it the other direction- only to find it was still attached to a rod and reel!!!!!! If I hadn't stopped when I did, I would have had a Zebco in the pump!!
The reel works good, by the way.....

If I don't get a chance to get on the board in the next couple of days, then I will be back in just over a week and then the Boat comes out.....so who knows when I will be back here...???????????????????????????????

Last weekend, I had a fun experience..JK! Saturday night when we got to the lake where my parents were, I launched the boat, forgot to switch the gas on for both engines, cranked them up idled out to the open area then they died....So I switched the gas on, tried to crank the starboard engine, it turned over twice then click click click, GREAT!!!! So I try the other one to see if I could limp it back to the dock, it did the same thing...So I am out in the middle of the water, me and my dad, no paddle to get us back, a ton of people at the dock...I felt STUPID!!! So we 2 wayed my fiancee and my mom on the pontoon and told them, they rode out and threw us a rope and towed me back in....Got home andtook the batteries out and boy are they a pain to reinstall....I will never do that again! Took around almost 2 hrs to get them back in...Needless to say from now on I will check the engines before i off load the boat!

Here is a funny or maybe sad story!

Yesterday, April 26, I am getting ready to go down to the dealer to pick up my new Speedster 200.... Man, I am ready to try it out in the water! I mean I am really ready...... But two new deals came into the office, (real estate agent) So I can't get out of the office to get my new boat before the dealer closes.... So I figure Tuesday will be good....

This morning I wake up... It's.. GET THIS.... 24 Degrees F outside and we now have 2" of fresh new SNOW!.................. IS THIS SICK OR WHAT? Man do I want to move to Florida or South Carolina or Alabama or WHERE EVER IT'S WARM and SUNNY!

Man, thats a sad story. Whoever heard of work interfering with picking up yer Doo?!?! If it helps any, we had a 'cold' snap this morning- it's 44 and I was just getting used to the 80's. Oh well. They say good things come to those who wait. Who the heck are 'they'? Like that makes the snow go away any quicker......maybe it will soon and you can get to dooing what ya wanna doo!

Snowing here today too, in Lower Michigan. Isn't sticking to the ground. Hopefully it warms up in upper Michigan by the weekend. Have four guys coming up to our Cabin there this weekend, to finish a deck, and ride in the boat. All I have been hearing is how they want to go tubing. I think I will drive all day. Beer will play an important part of this trip, in both the deck building, and the "tubing" in very cold water. Will be the first time in the water this year. Yes, I will check the batteries, and the drain plug prior to putting her in.
