Im looking at buying an 06 Islandia SE, is there anyway to find out engine hours aside from with a scan tool?

Yes you need a scan tool to get the actual hours. The one described in our '02 Islandia manual is obsolete. So last year I read on the forums of a company who makes a scan tool for about $400. to connect our Mercury engine and got all kinds of data. Most boaters don't care about this stuff, but it was worth every penny to know how the engine was operating and any issues.
