My new speakers should be here this week
I'm still not sure about the stock head unit, I may get a model that has a wired remote control. Nothing drives me more nutz then having to stop the boat, lean over and open the glove compartment...adjust volume and then sit back...speed up...and then have to stop cuz I can't hear the person next to me..or the stereo is too loud...or okay, I'm ranting.

I plan on installing the tower speakers on the rear upper tower tube and have them face the driver/passenger. The tube I may install in the rear motor compartment...just behind the motor or in the gunwhale on the passneger side. I have access to this area from the battery side of the engine compartment.

I'm also searching for a Depthfinder/Fishfinder and a GPS. Soo many things and so little money

I shorrre did I used to race snowmobiles, Moto-x and did lots of wrenching and testing of prototype race products. This is my first boat...and I've always wanted to own something with forced induction. I just hope my weekly allowance will cover all this stuff I'm doing or the Boss is going to call me into her office and scold my a$$

The freeflow exhaust is this like a corsa thru hull job or is it different and if so how? i am quite interested......

All your doing with the freeflow is removing the big black plastic resonator, this piece restricts flow. It is there to reduce sound levels and thats all. It's a real simple thing to do, just go to a muffler shop and get them to cut a 2.5" in diameter by 8.5" in length pipe. You can use Aluminum, Aluminized, Stainless...it doesn't matter because the your exhaust is cooled and doesn't get as hot as traditional exhaust systems, obviously the lighter the better. The resonator has to hose clamps and one rubber strap securing it. Just remove the resonator and replace with the exhaust pipe and yer done. Make sure the clamps are tight so you don't have an exhaust leak. The sound is much meaner, it really growls at 4-5000 rpm on mine. The resonator is probably tuned for this rpm to reduce sound. I'm going to build a complete aluminum exhaust going from waterbox to hull exit. This will replace the existing black hose and will be 2.7" ID to match the waterbox's diameter. This will give me the least restriction and will improve exhaust flow and sound of the boat.

wow thanx for that i think even i could do that - the only thing to watch presumably is exhaust gases escaping - why replace a plastic resonator with a bit of metal? cant you scoop the insides out of the resonator and put it back?

If that resonator is anything like the ones for air intake systems on cars there isn't any filling. This piece is specifically designed to catch the soundwaves and filter it for a quieter ride. Having this resonator simply disrupts the flow which in turn causes turbulence or restriction. The ideal intake/exhaust flow is straight in & straight out with no obstacles. Hope that helps any.

Great ideas Yuji...I've been looking for mods and these two are some quickies. Also found a website that has a number of bolt-ons for jet systems. All I see is for PWC, but they use the same motors. I wonder if this guy can make any for jet boat applications.

I've seen them use conical style K&N filters with Dale's air filter kits for PWC's with our motors. I want to touch base with some dealers to find out what exactly will void my warranty by adding any bolt-ons.

Some may already know this, but I wanted to make an update to one of my posts regarding Dales Jet Sports. I sent an email asking about performance mods for 4-TEC engines on our jet boats since their website specializes in PWCs and in short they replied:

Because most of the Jet Boats have the same engine and drivetrain, we can interchange parts from the PWC’s to the Jet Boats.

So, looks like some mods will be coming in the near future as long as the Dealer's can outilne what affects warranty.

i meant to ask them if the mods for the 4-tec they show are ok for the sportster - particularly the air filters etc etc - good link that- now understand what the pump wedge is all about.

i also would like clarification on the warranty issue - the manual says that the waranty becomes invalid if the boat has been modified to 'adversley' affect its performance - all the modifications i have seen enhance its performance. although i would want clarification from seadoo also i think - my dealer is currently race preparing a sportster for a customer - should be interesting.

have been speaking to my dealer who is ordering me a riva racing - freeflowing exhaust and a powered filter kit - the cone shaped one apparently - should see approx 15% increase in power - dont know wether to go for a steeper pitched impeller to avoid aeration/cavitation - will keep you posted - im not teky enuf to do it myself so its got to be a dealer job - and i get to keep my warranty as well....
