i am led to believe that somewhere there is an hour meter on the 4-tec scic - it maybe that its just dealer accessible when you connect a bit of kit - but if anyone has any further info would be good to know.

There is a connector that is used to connect the computer to the B.U.D.S. software. It tells such things as hours, running time at several RPM ranges, minimum and maximum temperatures and air pressures, and fault codes if any have occurred. We find it very useful and a great way to track the operating and maintenance history of any 4-TEC equipped boat.

but no way for end user to check the hours i guess it doesnt matter too much if i exceed my 10 hour service by a few hours then?
even though i am keeping a log i wouldnt want too miss out on a good day as its 500 miles to my nearest dealer here in th uk.
