when moving shifter from forward to neutral sometimes it jumps into reverse - which can be quite embarassing when your berthing near a 10ft granite wall - thank god for the rubbing strip! any one else noticed this - i think that seadoo should consider an audible beep when in reverse - to adjust the tension on the shifter may detract from its operation, beacause at close quarters you are keeping you eye on other boats people harbour walls etc an audible beep would allow you to shift back to nuetral without having to look at the shifter........
any ideas........

No, I think it is steam is created from the water injected into the exhaust for cooling/noise reduction. While the engine cooling is closed loop, the exhaust cooling is done from water (open loop).interesting - that would indicate water in fuel - or do you mean steam from the cooling plate?

I believe you can set the tension on the shifter fairly easily. I know you can for the throttle. Pull out the housing with the throttle and shifter and look for a set screw. You should be able to tighten up the shifter to prevent this.any body seen any reports of a jumping shifter - mine still jumps from nuetral to reverse without touching it

I set mine just as Steve describes, by adjusting the screws at the controls. I actually made mine too tight.I believe you can set the tension on the shifter fairly easily.
