having noticed a fair bit of water standing in the bottom of my boat i jacked up the front of trailer and removed about 10 gallons of water which didnt drain when the boat was sat level on the trailer, this water was in contact with the bottom of the engine which cant have been good for it - but the bilge pump didnt empty it???? but does actually work.
has any body else noticed this?
i guess if you drain the boat on the slipway like the brp video says than it wouldnt happen!!!
still odd that the bilge pump didnt run.

Didn't your boat eat a ski rope? Did you check the driveshaft seal ( thru the hull) for damage afterward? That amount of water doesn't just get in the bilge for no reason.. It is odd that the bilge didn't run automatically, although the switch could be at a higher level than what you describe. I always run my bilge as I'm coming in to the dock, and remove the drain plug before moving from the launch.
You may want to have things checked out before going back out.

well i figured that next time we go out i will keep the boat on the winch once it off the trailer and pop the engine cover to see if there is any water coming in - after it ate the ski rope we were sat at sea for 30mins waiting for our tow - and i guess that if the seal was gone then water would have come in then - besides the water in the boat was not salty and tasted like it had a cleaning solution in it so it may have been there a long time - i am fairly relaxed about the seal as all the rope once cut came out pretty easily - but will check to make sure.
