Hello to all. I just picked up my 1999 Yellow and White Speedster yesterday. Some of you may have seen it on e-bay. It was listed about 2 weeks ago. The sale ended 2/22/04 it was listed with no reserve starting at $7800. I went to look at it on saturday and fell in love with it. The seller lives about 20 min. from my house. Great guy spent 2 hours going over the boat with me ( I know nothing about jet boats). Decieded I would wait out the bid and see what happened. To my surprise nothing no bids at all. I got in touch with him afterwards and bought the boat for $7700. What I got with the boat was unbeleivable; boat, trailer, new boat cover, gps, new pioneer am fm cd xm radio, life jackets, water skis, tow ropes, sea doo ski tube, large spotlight, and aquamats through out the boat. He replaced the battery, two carburetors steering cables and throttle cables. What does it need: the windscreen on the drivers side is missing. I guess its about $250. I can't wait for the weather to warm up to try this baby out.

Awesome buy John!! I do recommend you getting some information on using jet-drive boats, whether it be form this website or other sources. Do some reading etc...they drive, steer and handle very different form other boats. In my opinion, they are better! A little tricky using the reverse and steering at idle speeds though. This will take time......practice whenever you get a chance and preferably when there are not other boats around. Docking can be difficult with any boat depending on your confidence and experience...All I can say is patience and practice, and don't panic.
True story...I seen a guy last year Panic and actually hit the throttle launching the boat up the ramp and into some guys rear quarter of his pick-up truck!!! Take it easy and don't rush anything! An extra pair of hands can always help....don't be afraid to ask for help, MOST people are willing to lend a hand.
PET PEEVE: People standing and watching someone having difficulty or by themselves docking or lauching!!!
ALWAYS OFFER A HAND!
Good luck !!!

I have the manual on cd and printed myself out a copy at work. I'm starting to read it now and will read it over a couple of times until I am comforable with all the information. Why is reverse more tricky than forward ? Any tips at all on docking is appreciated.
Thanks
John

I can't give you a quick and easy answer to why reverse is harder than going forward. Jetdrive is different, plain and simple. I am not sure if your model has the feature where the idle goes higher when turning to the limits...??? Not that I think this feature is all that great but you will find that in order to steer better.....you need to give just the right amount of gas. This is the trick...finding the sweet spots on the throttle.
Like I mentioned, practice makes you better!

Congrats on your new DOO! cAn'T sWim is totally right about the Jet Drive, it does take practive but as he said just have patience with yourself and just don't let people rush you. Remember it is your boat and you are the one that will be paying for the damage if you accidently run into something because someone was rushing you and you panic'd. Just be careful, it will come to you in time and happy DOO'ing!
