I bought my boat with 10 hours on it last summer 2011 and since the first time on the lake I have had an issue with achieving the rated hp and speed of the boat. What I experience is that when taking off from dead stop I have some engine bogging noise or pump cavitation issues at exactly 6200rpm, this also happens if im cruising on the lake and back the throttle down to 6200rpm it starts acting up again. The max rpm i have ever seen on the boat is 6600rpm which I believe is about 1000rpm lower than rated, top speed has been about 40 mhr. I have had the impeller wear ring replaced once with no noticable change and also had the supercharger rebuilt at 20hours (which was very premature according to the 100hr 1st service recomendation for it) with still no change. When im at full throttle it seems to run smooth but the rpm are 6600 max. When taking off from stopped, once it gets past the 6200rpm gargling it plains out and sounds smooth. I would really like to get some feedback on anyone with related issues or solutions. Im wondering if its a computer issue or something to do with the rev limiter. Im going to take it back to the dealership when they can get it in and hopefully they can find something when they hook up to the boats computer and run it but in the mean time If I can fix it on my own that would save me another 1000bucks.
