This is just something I put together for some fun on the website. When you reach a certain number of posts your member title/rank (DOO skill level) will change. Let me know what you guys think of this.

I have attached the member title/rank outline, it will show you the titles/ranks and the number of posted needed to achieve them.

seems fair - heres a thought - what about some online log books for everybodys dooos

say each time you got out you can fill in

fuel consumed/speeds/activity/hours used
where
when
weather
sea state
etc
etc

just to give some realtime data - seadoo themselves may be interested in how these things actually perform over time - it would have been good to look at figures online prior to purchasing etc etc

Sounds like an excellent idea!

Be the first to make a new post in the format that you choose and everyone else can follow that format. I will pin the post so everyone can post their results there.

i dont know how you would do it other than fill out columns on a spreadsheet sort of thing without loosing the excellent gui of the site as it stands - but if each doo was named and you could add your own figures each time and then sort by type of doo it would make excellent information for would be dooers and existing dooers.

Well I would say that we could keep it going via the forums, we just need to come up with the template on which data that we would like to track and then I could start the first post, something like this:

Model: 2000 SeaDoo Speedster 160
Engine: Mercury 240 EFI
Top Speed Attained: 60 mph
Fuel Consumed: 40 gallons
Activity: Haulin' tail!!!
Hours Used: 5 hrs
Persons Onboard: 1
Where: Lake Oconee, GA, US
When: March 9th, 2005
Weather: Sunny, 85 degrees
Sea State: Calm

yeh i would like to be able to fill in an online logbook - it would need a comments entry aswell - it would be good that once all the data was entered it would doo a cummalative column for say hours and gas - then you would only have to worry about how much gas you put in at the pump not relying on the fuelk guage if you see what i mean - am i complicating this now - it would be good to if you could filter by boat name so that you could keep check on you own personla log.......
speed should be top speed attained!!!!! - these boats may get faster as they loosen up!! oh yeh and persons on board aswell.

i think a table with each column as we have titled them in much the same way as todays active post works - then say filter by name so that your boat shows etc -
each entry would show up like an active post ......

I updated my post above to include your additions. I will have to look at this in more depth as this would require coding something totally new from what we have here to accomplish tallies and what not. We could use this format above via the forums to see how it works, this would give everyone a centralized place to post their results and everyone will be able to leave comments about the results here. Since it will be posted in the same section and I will pin the post, it should make it pretty easy to find. You can check up on your own personal posts by using the filter setup here to find just the posts you have made such as, http://seadoosportbo...alluser&mid=262.

going back to your rankings - you could have them rated according to their hours on boat as opposed to number of posts - ( a little geeky - of which i am gainy in geekyness!) although my abilit to actually doo it at them moment is only a 20min demonstration!

i guess the tabulated version is gonna take some dooing - but this is good - i used to use an online dive log for scuba diving - so that everybody could view the results and offer advice etc - when its in a tabulated form it is easier to analyse several log entries. Cool as though!

I appreciate that your goal is to get more activity by encouraging members to post more. However, IMO you're encouraging frivilous posts from members who want to be considered to be more than a "novice" dooer. (I also don't like the handle dooer as it infringes on my handle.)

If your goal is to get a lot of posts, then continue with this title/rank thingy. However, I find the result has been that there is too much unrelated chatter which tends to clutter the board thereby making the board irrelevant.

With all doo respect to our friend across the pond, I don't come to this site to get my latest dose of British humour.

Very adequate point, I will keep my eyes on things to assure that posts don't get out of hand, everyone still knows what the objective of the website is which is to help out fellow DOO'ers. The jokes section was just a little something to give the members of the website a little humor when they view the website also. A lot of websites doo these kinds of things to be able to talk about other things when there is nothing really to talk about on the topic at hand, (ie during the off-season for us), gives us a way to still keep up with one another until the next boating season is around the corner.

Sorry you feel that way doooer - but hey the internet is the last bastion of freedom and free speach - controlling and cencorship of web sites is the next step towards - well i am sure you know - any how you do have the option of not looking at my offering of british humour -

i must say i am a little surprised at your attitude i used to live in alberta and i have to say that in my experience canadians are one of the most tolerant and friendly people i have ever met

at the end of the day its all about having fun - sorry if it has offended you.
