I just bought 98 challenger twin rotax fixer upper, does not look like it was taken care of very well. anyway I already bought it. The problems, both engine haveing issues. one or both cavaltaion, anyway one has caviltaion but revs. the other engine lots of caviltion and no go at all, then it goes 3000 to 5000 and again 3 to 5 over and over. So after a lot of reading I took out both impeller housings and noticed. The good engine, if we call it that, seems like no issue. Will need new wear ring and new impeller. Still on original ring all mest up no plastic left and big gap. The other impeller looks better and has white replacment ring with good gap, but this is what I have a question about. The housing is all plastic and not as havey as the other one, also the white wear ring can be pulled out by hand in and out no problem. Is this ok is it very wrong. I want to buy rings and impellers but dont want to starte buying and not the write houseing that does not even belong there. everything looks exactly the same but no metal only plastic. also what impeller to buy and where and wear rings, again very new and any help will be very much apriciated.

new to yet boat

First, take a look at the carbon ring fitting. Cavitation can be caused by leaks in those seals as well. Second, I would suggest replacing both wear rings with at least OEM like rings. The plastic rings you reference are a bit cheaper, but wil cause issues in performance.
Your comment is correct...you should not be able to move the wear ring once correctly seated into the jet pump housing.
