Cape Canaveral, Florida, August 17, 2004 - Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) introduces the 2005 line of Sea Doo® sport boats with additional power options, cleaner engine technology, quality refinements and one all-new model. With more power and features than the competition, BRP is proving its industry-leading innovation once again. This includes the prevalence of quiet, environmentally-friendly 4-TECTM four-stroke engines.
The Sea-Doo ChallengerTM 180 will compete with the popular 18-foot recreational runabout category in performance and price point. Several models get an upgrade in power to the 185 HP supercharged 4 TEC four-stroke marine engine or the four-stroke intercooled 215 HP supercharged 4-TEC. Advancements in sound reduction and on-water performance have also been made to the 2005 line.
"The new, more powerful engine options in several 2005 Sea-Doo sport boats broaden the appeal and choices of jet power to boaters," said Chris Dawson, Vice President, Marketing, BRP. "The new Challenger 180 has an 18-foot platform with cockpit area comparable to that of a 20-footer. It will be offered at an affordable price to broaden the appeal of the Sea-Doo sport boat line to consumers," he added.
The Sea-Doo Challenger 180 offers an open cockpit configuration and will be available with two engine options, the 185 HP supercharged 4-TEC or the intercooled 215 HP supercharged 4-TEC. Capable of carrying eight people, the Challenger 180 is designed specifically for recreational boating and will be priced lower than the popular, high-performance Utopia 185.
The SportsterTM is now available with three engine options including the four-stroke intercooled 215 HP supercharged 4-TEC that provides unmatched exhilaration with its performance. Responsiveness is an understatement with the new Sportster SCIC (Super Charged Intercooled) - a sport boat with the perfect balance of power and handling in new racing colors and graphics.
Power times two is packed in the SpeedsterTM 200, with two power options in 2005. With 370 HP packed in twin 185 HP supercharged 4-TEC four-stroke engines or 310 HP in twin 155 HP configuration, this sport boat is the performance king of jet power sport boats.
A new concept is offered in the 2005 UtopiaTM 205 SE, or "Special Edition" platform. A truly loaded vehicle, the Utopia is the ultimate luxury performance sport boat perfect for the entire family. With refined features such as premium upholstery, Clarion® stereo system, wood grain instrument panel, and optional wakeboard tower, the Utopia 205 SE allows you to idle into the marina with class or tow the kids for a wild wakeboarding session.
