Im Gary Zac from Australia & have a question for you seadoo boat lovers
I bought a 2011 model 150 Seadoo Speedster 255 HP Rotex Motor.....Any body got any tips how to manage driving this boat out of the water onto my boat trailor ? As you know with not much throtle you got no steering. If i give it to much throtle, i get the feeling im going drive the boat right over the boat trailor into my car haha, so i have to back the throtle off there for stuffing up the drive on proccedure.

Garyzac-

You will get the feel for your boat in no time, here is some advice:
1) Patience- no matter how busy the laynch ramp is, keep cool and take your time. There is no need to rush through the process.

2) Practice- start with low speed maneuvers the around the dock and finally loading the trailer.

3) pay attention to the trailer when backing it in for pickup, once you identify how far underwater your trailer should be for easy loaing, you could just walk the boat on the trailer.

4) have fun!

Hi Gary, I'm a new boat owner In Australia too! It's one hell of a learning curve! We wernt game to drive my challenger onto the trailer first time so we lined it up on the dock parallel then walked it close enough to get the wind up strap on and it was up and out from there!

Hi Gary,

I used to have a Sportster 150 and I found docking and returning the boat to the trailer quite challenging at first. The larger boats aren't nearly as squirrelly. But definitely take your time and go slow and make very small steering adjustments. 360's were common for a while.

I didn't even use the throttle. With the engine at idle speeds simply shifting to FWD provides move than enough power for docking maneuvers. I typically would have the throttle at idle and have the shifter somewhere between FWD and neutral, thereby using the shifter to control my speed. Once the hull is caught by the trailer bunks, then you can provide some throttle to get the boat up on the trailer some more.

Hi Gary... it's been a while since your post and you've probably worked it out now...no worries? HaHa.
We've had our speedster 150 (first boat) just on a year and we are still walking it on a bit with a rope on the front... I have to back the car in, cause the misses doesnt want to yet... so when we first tried, she ended up 180 degrees facing away from the trailer, panicked and throttled away... me and the trailer got pushed sideways from the jet wash!... this is what we do... rope tied on front, me at winder waiting, wife putts in... go to neutral, no throttle at all, can steer on spot, nudge between neutral and forward (no throttle)line up and before reaching the trailer trows me the rope and turns boat off... I pull the boat in with the rope onto the trailer.

I'm from Melbourne too, I do Yarra river trips, st Kilda, rye, nagambie, glenmaggie and probably Wilson when I get a car with enough grunt to get over the spur.
