Does a closed loop cooling system (4-tec) decrease pollution on water?

I think the fact that the 4TEC is a 4 stroke instead of a 2 stroke has more to do with decreasing pollutants than the closed-loop cooling.Does a closed loop cooling system (4-tec) decrease pollution on water?
1997 Seadoo XP 800 (sorry, at least it is a DOO!!!)
