Hello my wife and I just bought a 1997 sea doo speedster. We have had two jet skis for 5 yrs and it just seems like we get on them and each take one of our girls and go our separate ways. So I found this nice sea doo speedster. We bought it from a reputable sea doo dealer and took it for a test drive and now it is winterized. Can't wait until this summer to play on it. Hope we got a nice one. Never driven one other then my teat drive. So I guess we'll just take it slow. Again I can't wait for the summer to play with the family. Now I need to sell my jet skis to help pay for it. Lol

Welcome, I bought my 97 Speedster about 4 years ago, got a great deal on it, Paid $500 for it. The interior was trashed but the boat overall was an 8 out of 10. I cleaned and refurbed the carbs and put in fresh gas and was on the water in a day. Back on early October, got her in shallow water and lodged an underwater root into my port side intake. Well, relined the pumps on both jets. She now hits 58-60 mph with 3 persons on calm water. B4 the rebuild, she would get to ~48-50.
This group has great information for those of us that for financial reasons, have to DIY..
I was in Michigan and loved the clear water lakes up there. I am now in Charlotte, NC near Mt. Island Lake.
Look forward to Lake Norman, and Lake Wylie this spring.
