Hey... I just purchased a 2000 challenger 1800 with a merc 210hp non efi engine.. seems like this boat was a limited or short run.. First why did seadoo stop using this engine, second.. what do you think of this engine.. I really like the boat but see more owners with rotex engines.. am I all alone here???
or what can you tell me about this engine.. what other boats used this engine

In the long run you'll be glad you have the merc...more reliable and parts easier to find.
You'll also find a certified Mercury dealer before a Rotax dealer. Yes, mercs are more expensive to replace, but rebuilds are not that hard if you can turn wrenches. They are basically outboard motors w/a jet pump instead of a conventional lower unit. Jets don't take a beating like props, so require less maintenance. Google 'seadooforums' for manuals and more info on motor. Oh yeah, if you' ain't got $$$ or are mechanically inclined, ya might wanna get 1 of the 2 (or both!) real quick.
