Hi, new to the forum. Just got my 2011 180 Challenger SE 215HP a few months ago. Was curious about my speedo reading as it seemed slower that it felt. This evening used GPS and assuming my GPS is accurate here is what my speedo said.....36MPH @7780rpm....GPS said......45.7MPH @7780rpm. On average throughout range speedo was off about 7-9MPH. I only have 5 hours on the boat so I could not push her at WOT for too long since I am still breaking the engine in. After break in, if the boat will push up to 8000rpm then I may get more speed. I am at full rpm now with almost a 1/4 throttle left to give but no extra rpm when I push to full, will this change after break in period? Does anyone else notice this? I guess I will find out at the magical 7-10 hours when the computer says it is ok to go wide open, LOL!

Your throttle after break in will advance but more throttle throw is needed for a small rpm increase. My 255hp goes to 7700, but hole shot can get it to 8000 before it bites. After 10 hrs the performance diff is really insignificant, but it won't burn quite as much gas, and the change of oil will stop the oil loss as the new stuff doesn't need to glue the engine. You'll love the boat. Generally you can run faster In this than the twins without burning ridiculous amounts of fuel. Ie much better economy at the top end.

I have a 2008 Challenger 180 with the same 215 Hp engine and found the GPS and spedometer both match within a couple miles per hour. With 3/4 tank and three people the boat we can do about 45 to 48 mph depending on water conditions full throttle. You may wish to have the spedo checked out at the 10 hour inspection to see if the spedo is Ok. We noticed a change for the better with fuel consumption after our 10 hour break in period. Really has been a great family boat.

Ok, thanks, I'll have the speedo checked, can the gate be adjusted to give a close to true neutral, the forward propulsion in neutral is fine but I have to keep toggling between neutral and reverse to hold the boat steady when trying to stop the boat for docking or just want the boat to stay still?

Do you have mods? I have never got over 37 MPH with my 215. I also talked with Seadoo internal and they say that is as fast as it goes. Please confirm.

I also have a 2011 180 with the 215 hp engine. my speedo has never read over 23mph and others that i have talked to with the same year boat has been having problems with their speedos. with my GPS i reach high 40s and i know GPS is accurate.

I got same boat 2011 c180 se with 215HP and my Speedo has never shown more than 32. But when I check with my GPS, it's close to 43.

Altitude can also have a lot to do with top speed and over all power. I was just running at 4700 feet above sea level and had a significant decrease in top speed. I also had about 1000 less RPM than I normally do where I usually ride at around 250 feet. My Speedo has never been accurate though. Usually reads 10-12 below what GPS says on the top end. Where I ride water current also affects readings.
