I bought a non-cuurent 09 150 speedster and the best I can get for rpm is 7700. Thats with an empty tank of fuel and just myself in the boat. Load it with fuel and the most I get is 7500rpm. The dealer is saying thats normal. I said the boat is rated for 255hp at 8000rpm, so how do you claim 255hp if it only runs 7500rpm. Is 7500rpm normal?? What is everyone else getting?? I am getting 58 mph out of it.
Thanks
Mike

I have a 2010. Can't say that I specifically remember it getting to 8K, but next time I am out then I will check. Although, I have gotten that same speed recorded on the speedometer. Of course, I was burning fuel FAST. For me, normal operation is around 6.3K/rpm or about 40% throttle. Speed will vary depending on the load in the boat, but that is usually fast enough.

I was worried about this earlier this year aswell. I noticed on hot humid days my speedster would run around 7500-7800 RPM at 54-56mph. Now in the cool fall like weather, I hit 8100 and 60+mph no problem.

FA5FLIP, Mine is identical. The hot days this summer it would run 7500rpm and similar speed (56mph). A couple weeks ago in the cooler weather (15C) I got 7850rpm and 61mph. My dealer says the 7500rpm is normal, but I question that. In my opinion it should run 7800-7900rpm and 60+mph even in the warmer weather.

I live in Florida and purchased my 255 hp speedster 150 back in April 2011. I was having the same concern I was not getting over 7700 rpm ever. It is now December and the water is much cooler and the boat is getting 8100 rpms all day no problem. It appears that the water temps affect the boats performance.
